U.S. Congressman. Born the great-grandson of U.S. Congressman Joseph Cable, he attended Kenyon College, in 1906, graduated from the law department of George Washington University Washington, D.C., in 1909, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Lima, Ohio. He was prosecuting attorney of Allen County, (1917-21). In 1921, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh and Sixty-eighth Congresses, serving until 1925. He was again elected to the elected to the Seventy-first Congress and Seventy-second Congress, serving (1929-33). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law, was special assistant to attorney general of Ohio, (1933-37), special counsel to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in the liquidation of the Lima First American Bank & Trust Company and served as a Government appeal agent of Selective Service Board No. 2, Lima, Ohio, (1948-60). He also was an author and publisher, until his death at age 87.
