CORBIN -- Reverend J. K. Barrineau, 88, of Corbin, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at The Heritage. Born Jan. 4, 1923, in Taft, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph and Harriett Kirton Barrineau.

A U.S. Army veteran, he proudly and honorably served his country. A devoted minister for over forty years, he also served as a Sunday School teacher and as the Senior Adult Pastor of "The Pride of Eastside". He was a member of the Retired Ministers Association of the Church of God as well as the D.A.V. and Lee University Alumni Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Manton and Mervin; and three sisters, Marjerline, Ophelia and Marsena.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Edna and his six devoted children, Ted Manton Barrineau and wife Mary of Jellico, Tenn., Geneil Martin and husband John of Keavy, J.K. Barrineau,Jr., and his wife Susie of Cleveland, Tenn. Van Barrineau and wife Heather of Corbin, Ned Barrineau of Berea and Janton Barrineau and wife Sheila of Summerville, SC. 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a sister Olivia Quinn Wilson and husband Penn of Jacksonville, Ala; as well as special nieces and nephews, many friends and Church Family, all who mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Eastside Tabernacle Church of Gos with Rev. Randall Lee, Rev. Keith Ivester, Rev. Mitchell Tolle and Rev. Janton Barrineau officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemeetery at Keavy with full military rites conducted by by the D.V.A. Chapters 158 and 66.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Saturday at the East Side Tabernacle Church of God in Corbin and on Sunday from 2 pm until the funeral hour at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the J.K. Barrineau Ministerial Development Fund at the Church of God Division of Education in Cleveland, TN, to support young ministers in the MIP and SIMS Programs (1-877-344-0488).
