She was born March 10, 1918, in Lorain, and was a lifelong resident of the city.
She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1936 and from the former Oberlin School of Commerce. She attended Lorain County Community College.
Miss Butler had been employed as a department head at the Sears & Roebuck Department Store in downtown Lorain, and as a secretary and office manager of the family business, Thomas Butler Plumbing and Heating Contractor. She worked as a cashier at Citizens Savings for a number of years service until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Mary Church, Lorain, where she was a lector and sang in the choir; and was a Secular Third Order Franciscan and a member of AARP 399 and a member and volunteer at Lorain Community Seniors. She enjoyed travel, golf, reading, swimming, watercolor painting and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas F. and Nora (nee Martin) Butler. Survivors include cousins.
Friends may call Tuesday, 9 to 9:30 a.m., at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. Fifth St., Lorain. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 310 Eighth St. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
