William Mayer, 81, a retired farmer, died Monday, Sept. 2, 1957 at 3:30 p.m. at the home in Florida, Ohio, of Mrs. Mabel Bechtol, with whom he had been staying for the last 25 years.
He was born Aug. 19, 1876 in South Richland tp., Defiance County, a son of John and Mary (Bachman) Mayer.
His wife, the former Fannie Dunbar, died in 1926.
He leaves a brother, John Mayer, Defiance; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Dunbar, Defiance, Mrs. Mabel Hammon, near Napoleon, and Mrs. Sophia Dunbar, Florida.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Mrs. Abbie Craig and Mrs. Ella Boehr, and one brother, Charles Mayer.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Mansfield and Mast funeral home by the Rev. Charles Perrin, Florida Methodist minister. Burial will be in Independence cemetery.
