Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood with the Rev. James Wilkerson and the Rev. Rob Garland officiating. Burial will follow at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Banks was born in Calhoun City on Nov. 22, 1938, to Gilsie and Opal Lee (Huffman) Banks. He resided in Greenwood all of his life. He served as Constable for District 1 in Leflore County and was retired from the Greenwood Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Phoebe Jane Banks; parents, Gilsie Herman and Opal Lee Banks; and brother, Alex Banks.
Survivors includes his son, Tony Banks of Grenada; daughter, Basi Sanford of Tupelo; sisters, Annette Warner of Ruleville, Wanda Parson of Dyersburg, Tenn., Glenda Whitlock of Greenville, Barbara Counts of Schlater, Gail Roncali of Cold Water and Joy Hopkins of Cleveland; brothers, Ricky Banks of Greenwood and Danny Banks of Cruger; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chad Hopkins, Quinton Gammill, Todd Hopkins, Bubba Rodgers, Desi Roncali, Rob Banks and Don Counts.
Honorary pallbearers are Burford Jones, J.B. Henry, Jody Gee, Jim Burgoon and the retirees of the Greenwood Fire Department.
