Author. A Protestant minister, he is best known for his book, "Oh Promised Land" (1940). Several of his other books have been turned into films, "The Biscuit Eater" (1972), "Good-bye, My Lady" (1956), "Living It Up" (1954), "Tap Roots" (1948), "The Biscuit Eater" (1940), and "Nothing Sacred" (1937).
