Stephina Degenstein, 94, Minot, died October 16, 2006 in a Minot nursing home.

She was born on March 7, 1912, in Balta, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Francisia (Hartman) Fischer. As a young woman she worked for several area farm families in the Drake, ND and Balfour, ND areas.

Stephina married Alex K. Degenstein on November 26, 1934, in Orrin, ND. The family moved to Minot in 1954, where Stephina worked for a couple motels. She later went to work for the Ramada Inn, now The Grand International Inn in Minot. Stephina retired in 1972, to care for her husband, Alex who later died that same year.

Stephina moved to Velva, ND, and in 1974, returned to Minot where she resided at Milton Young Towers. In 1999, she entered ManorCare Health Services.

She was an active member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Survivors: son, Leo Degenstein, Minot; daughters, Helen Faul and Magdelena (Ron) Overly, of Minot and Mary (Gerald) Auran, Maxbass, ND; daughter-in-law, Dora Degenstein, Ham Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Braunagel, Fessenden, ND; sister-in-law, Delores Fischer, Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Art Hagen, Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; her parents; daughter, Frances Degenstein; son, Clem Degenstein; son-in-law, Elmer Faul; two brothers and five sisters.
