Rev Charles K. Shackleford, 69, pastor of the Baptist church in New Market for five years, died at his home there Sunday morning at 8:35 after a lingering illness of 12 weeks. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church in New Market Tuesday morning at 10:30 conducted by Rev Pruitt. Burial will be in Memory cemetery.

Rev Shackelford, who had been a member of the Masonic lodge for the pastor 30 years, had lived in New Market for the past eight years. He is survived by a son, Howard, of Chicago, Ill, two daughters, Mrs Verla Blunt of Chicago, Ill, and Betty Robinson of Los Angeles, Calif, also a sister, Mary Tucker of Kansas City, Mo and a half brother, Will Shackelford, of Algona, Iowa. obit partly gone - Rev C.K. Shackelford was born in Roscoe, St Clair county, Mo, April 17, 1870, and departed this life Sunday, Oct 29, 1939, at his home in New Market.

He moved to Osceola, Iowa, with his parents and was converted at the age of fifteen years.

He went into the ministry at the age of thirty and was appointed a church in Walnut Grove, Nebr, and on March 10, 1905, married Elva May Fairbanks. To this union four children were born, two daughters, Betty and Verla, and two sons, Glenn and Howard. Glen Shackelford passed away at the age of five years.

Rev Shackelford preached in the Methodist church for fourteen years in the state of Nebraska.

He moved with his family to California and preached in the Baptist church for a number of years. He belonged to the Masonic lodge for 30 years.
