Son of Rachel and Simcha. Born on (08/04/1974), in Ir Ovot. The eighth of nine children. Ari attended - Ir Ovot elementary school and Sapir High School in the Negev. At school he excelled as an athlete and was active in this area. As he approached army recruitment he spent much time in practice to improve his physical ability to be fit for combat.

Ari was recruited in late November 1992 and at the end of IDF basic training was stationed in the Paratroopers Brigade. Ari successfully passed a number of professional courses, including sniper course, sabotage squad and commanders course. A long period he served with his unit in the security zone in southern Lebanon, from there to military activity in the territories, and leading the fighting force. His commanders recommended he attend officers' course.

Monday (4/13/1994), Ari fell during line of duty, in a bus bomb attack in Hadera central bus station. He was nineteen years old. Ari was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ir Ovot. He left behind his parents, six sisters - Tali, Leah, Atara, Yamit, Aliza and Chaya, and two brothers - David and Dari. After his death Ari was raised to the rank of sergeant.

Chief of Staff Ehud Barak, wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: "Ari served the engineering battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade and was described by his commanders as an excellent soldier and an outstanding marksman, a leader, quiet, smiling and widely accepted by his team." The commander of his unit wrote: "Ari was one of the best of our warriors. Throughout the entire tour his professional ability stood out with particularly high motivation. Ari was popular with his friends and his fellow commanders greatly valued him, both as a person and as a soldier. He served as a sniper in his unit and stood out with high ability in this field. Ari served four months in southern Lebanon, at the post Raychan, at the northern end of the security zone. Through this difficult and dangerous period, he set out on many operations while leading the fighting force, reassuring his fellow soldiers and commanders. He was the kind of fighter that any commander would want to be near during an operation. Ari was a true professional, a true example of a warrior. Not too long before, the unit decided to send Ari to officers' course, with the aim to return him to the unit as an officer, to command and educate a young generation. Unfortunately, malicious murderers struck him and took him from us."
