Mr. Adams graduated from Linville Edom High School in 1946. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and often stated that "his best crop was his children". He served on various agriculture boards and served in many church positions. He was a pilot, who enjoyed flying his airplane and was also proud of his restored 1941 pickup, "Lil Red". Mr. Adams was member of the Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren.
On March 23, 1952, he married the former Nancy Leap, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Randall Adams of Gaithersburg, Md., and wife Gail Unterberger, Don Adams and wife, Frances, Glen Adams and wife, Melissa, Bob Adams and wife, Jackie, all of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Linda Buchanan and husband, Barry, of Ferrum, Va., Cindy Pennington and husband, Tim, of Fulks Run; one brother, Gene O Adams of Stanley; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Lamb and Charlotte Sciota.
Dr. Ron Wyrick will conduct a memorial service Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at the Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah District Churches of the Brethren Disaster Response, c/o Disaster Fund, P.O. Box 67, Weyers Cave, Va 24486, or to the Davita (Dialysis) Patient Fund, 871 Cantrell Ave., Harrisonburg, Va 22802.
The casket will be closed. Arrangements are by McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
