Wayne served as a Private First Class, 126th Base Unit, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided at 52 Edmonds Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the New York National Guard on January 15, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Single, without dependents.

Wayne died in the "Line Of Duty" when he was declared "Missing In Action".

He was flying in a R-37 (#AJ-376) out of Walterboro Army Airfield, Walterboro, South Carolina when the plane crashed one mile offshore after takeoff.

Five other airmen also perished in this flight.
