Keith Wade, age 86, of Ft. Collins, Colo., former Elwood resident, died March 16, 2008 at Ft. Collins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21 at the First Christian Church in Elwood with Steven Jergensen officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

Survivors include one son, Jeffery [Linda] Wade of Mason, Ohio; three daughters, Shirley Wade-Hayhurst of Denver, Linda Humphrey of El Paso, Texas and Cynthia (Norman) Evans of Elwood; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn and a nephew, Barry Wade.

Keith was born Sept. 26, 1921 at Elwood to Ray and Viola [Lawhead] Wade. He graduated from Elwood High School in 1939. He moved to California to become a certified welder and, during World War II, he was employed by the Douglas Aviation Company known today as The Boeing Company.

On June 23, 1942, he married Anna Mae Leggott in Las Vegas. They made their home in Culver City, Calif., before moving to Elwood in 1946. While in Elwood, they owned and operated Wade Dairy & Grocery. In 1960, he entered into a partnership and purchased the Elwood Lumber Yard and engaged in commercial and residential construction. In the late 1960s, he moved to Holyoke, Colo., where he remained in the construction business until an accident forced his retirement at the age of 80. In later years, he resided at Ft. Collins, Colo.
