DEATH OF MRS. CHAS. A. BOVEY
After Short Illness, Pioneer Woman Succumbs.
After an illness of only two days, Mrs. Charles A. Bovey died yesterday morning at the family residence on Harmon place. By her death, the community has lost one of its best examples of those New England ideals and principles that have so deeply influenced Minneapolis.
Hannah Caroline Brooks, directly descended in the seventh generation from John Alden of Plymouth colony, was born Aug. 15, 1831, at Eastport, Me., the only child of Luke Brooks and Sarah Hayden. Later, the Brooks family moved to Salem, Mass., where, on Sept. 11, 1856, Mr. and Mrs. Bovey were married. Living at St. John, N.B., until 1869, in that year Mr. and Mrs. Bovey made Minneapolis their home.
Mrs. Bovey was a member of the Mayflower society and a charter member of the Minnesota Society of Colonial Dames and one of the oldest members of Plymouth Congregational church. She has been identified with it since her earliest coming to Minneapolis.
But it was for her home and family circle that Mrs. Bovey really lived. At the same home on Harmon place, where they had enjoyed for the past thirty-six years a family life, rare in its completeness, she and Mr. Bovey, with the good wishes of their many friends, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary a short two months ago. And today she rests in the same home, mourned by the same circle of friends.
Mrs. Bovey leaves her husband and four sons and two daughters, Frank Alden, Charles Cranston, John Alden, William Howard, Carolyn Hayden and Mrs. James Archibald Ross.
The funeral services will be held at the home, 12 Thirteenth street S. Saturday, at 2 p.m. Friends of the family are invited. The interment will be private at Lakewood cemetery.
