Grace was a vibrant and energetic woman with many interests. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 1952, and was a passionate elementary school teacher in the Bay City Public School System for 30 years. Grace was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving the Lord.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Maud H. (Hitchcock) Allen; brothers, Robert, Rex, Russell, and Ray Allen; and her loving husband of 48 years, Kenneth L. Bartlett. She is survived by her sister, Helen (Donald) Schuiteman. Grace will be greatly missed by her children, Gail L. Smith of Haslett, and Tim A. Bartlett of Hopkins; her grandchildren, Maggie L. Smith, and Lynsie R. Hitt; and many friends.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2206 Airfield Lane, with The Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Entombment will take place afterward at Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Freeland. Grace's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Street on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
