Alma Newman Almond, 61, of Route 3, Evington, died January 31, 1988, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Twyman B. Almond. Born in Evington, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Piercy C. and Doshia Unrue Newman. She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Eric G. Almond of Lynchburg and one daughter, Karen A. Feagan of Forest; three brothers, P. C. Newman, Jr., of Evington, C. Terrence Newman of Huma, La., and John W. Newman of Tarvenier, Fla., three sisters, Edith N. McCormick of Spout Spring, Va., Julia N. Edgeworth of Rural Hall, N. C., and Ava N. Ferguson of Appomattox, Va., and two grandsons, Brandon and Blake. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Elwood Orr and Rev. Grover Putnam and Rev. Jerry Naff. Burial will (be) in the Beulah Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Diuguid Waterlick Chapel from 7 to 8:30. They request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
