Son of John Arthur Effrige (1876–1948) & Mary Magdeline Raichle Effrige (1882–1967).

Frederick served as a 2nd Lt., 6th Ferrying Group, 28th Ferrying Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided at 58 Grafton Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on January 16, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Single, without dependents.

Frederick was one of four airmen killed when B-25D Mitchell #41-30349 crashed into San Pablo Bay, 2 miles offshore after takeoff from Hamilton Field, in Marin County, California. The twin engine bomber was being ferried to Hickam Field in Hawaii when the accident occurred.

His death was ruled a "Non Battle" related incident during the war.
