Fred Edward `Freddie` Real, 95 of Baytown, was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully departed this life at his home early Thursday, March 9, 2006. Born in Keechi, Texas on October 26, 1910, he was one of six children born to Luther and Mary Ann (Coats) Real. He came to Baytown in 1929, and work delivering telegrams for Western Union, and later for a local grocery store. In the early 1940`s he worked as a pipe fitter working in construction, and would eventually become a draftsman for Brown & Root until he retired at the age of 65. All the while, his passion was playing `Real` country music as a band leader, and a disc jockey for local radio stations including KRCT and KREL. He was personal friends with many legends in country music, including George Jones and Charlie Daniels. He will be remembered by the hundreds of senior citizens he played for more than 20 years at the Casaboom YMCA in Houston, and regulars at Roosters. Attended Second Baptist Church and Celebration of Life Church, Freddie was a classic car enthusiast and member of the Bayshore Fine Rides Car Club.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Real, sisters, Mary Lou Cuthbertson and Anna Lee Dickerson and great grandson, Danny Nelson; Freddie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Peggy (Spiller) Real of Baytown; daughters, Barbara Calvert and husband, Roger of Dayton, Annette Carleton of Port Neches-Groves, Cathy McMillan of Baytown; sisters, Bonnie Woods of Baytown and Lucille Huntsman of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Joni Gordon, Todd Mooring, Yvette Shaw, Tara Carleton, Monica Marchese and Jerry Green; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Friday, March 10, 2006 at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Service of remembrance will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, Pastor Raymond Sjolander and Todd Mooring officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens. Honoring the family a pallbearers will be Dale Carleton, Bob Gwin, Donald Spiller, D.D. `Dee` Spiller, Mike Arnett and Pat Real.

Freddie was kind, caring and generous person who never met a stranger, and if you didn`t have a smile, he would give you his. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
