Ada Downen, 84, of Corpus Christi, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 1999, in a local hospital. She was born May 31, 1914, in Goody Township (note, should be Goode Township), Illinois to Joseph Aaron and Nettie Spann Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Downen in 1992.

She is survived by three sons, Billy (Vera) Downen and Rex Downen all of Corpus Christi and Jimmie (Judy) Downen of Woodsboro; three daughters, Lula Belle Downen and Georgia (Wilford) Scott all of Corpus Christi and Linda (Roger) Liesmann of Kerrville; two sisters, Lorene Kirk of Illinois and Alvina Degler of Missouri; twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 14, 1999, in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with James Thompson, Pastor of Annaville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wilford Scott, Jr., Matt Downen, Isaac Cole, Tony Downen, Donnie Sullivan and Billy Downen. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Sullivan, Corky Sullivan, Vernon Downen and Nelson Downen.
