This man's name was Edmund Deberry Floyd (see documents at left). His tombstone was incorrectly engraved as Edward. He was born to John Floyd (1800-1867) & Nancy Lilly Floyd (1805-1876), both of North Carolina. They are buried in Mississippi.

Edmund married 1) Emeline Maness (1838-1872) on Jan. 11, 1857, in Union County, NC. She died at age 34. Did they have children together?

Edmund was a private in the Tennessee infantry, CSA, during the Civil War. He was honorably discharged in 1863 due to disability. See discharge at left.

He married 2) Mary Elizabeth Dodds Roberson (1847-1943) on Feb. 14, 1873, in Henderson County, TN. This was a second marriage for both. They had no children together, but he helped rear her children from a prior marriage. Mary & Edmund moved to Comanche County, TX, in December 1884. After Edmund died, Mary moved to Lubbock, TX, in 1926.
