He was a son of Jan (John) Leggett and Ann Wilson. He was probably born at Barbados on the Isle of Jamaica in the West Indies about 1665 or in New York Colony. He married Catherine Ten Broeck (daughter of Major Dirck Wesselse Ten Broeck and Christina Van Buren) and they had four children. There was Rachel, Christina who died very young, and then the twins Christina (again) and Jan (John) Leggett. The husband of Catherine Ten Broeck probably died about 1695.

Catherine Ten Broeck and Jan (John) Leggett were my ancestors as well as their second Christina. Christina (again) who was born about April 2,1693 married Claude (Gloude) De La Mater (Le Maistre) about November 6, 1717 and Christina's twin brother Jan (John) married Bata Jacobse De La Mater on October 25, 1722. All of these people were well-to-do.

Catherine remarried a Jan (John) Lissier and may have lived around Kingston with him.
