Armand was the son of Louis and Alice (Robert) Descoteaux. He has two brothers, Paul Descoteaux of Concord and Robert Descoteaux of Arizona; three sisters, Germaine Pouliot of Concord, Claire Richard and Theresa Gagnon both of Allenstown. Armand was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, Leo, Henry and Romeo Descoteaux.

He was a Navy veteran and served during the Korean War.
