Neodesha Cemetery.

John Christy Martin, 51, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Wilson County Hospital. His death was attributed to diabetes and complications. He had been in poor health one year and seriously ill the past two weeks.
Mr. Martin was born November 18, 1906, at Garfield, Ark. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Peake at Livingston, Mont., in April 1934. The deceased came to Neodesha June 6, 1954.
He is survived by the following children, Edward J. Martin and John Christy Martin, Livingston, Mont., Miss Hazel Mae Martin, 311 Wisconsin street, Neodesha. Mr. Martin and his daughter Hazel Mae, had been making their home with his niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Dariel Greer.
His father John William Martin, and his mother, Mary Jane Foster Martin, preceded him in death, as did three sisters and two brothers.
Five sisters and two brothers survive: Mrs. Bessie V. Poe, Seligman, Mo.; Mrs. Oma Roup, Livingston, Mont.; Mrs. Ralph Haviland, Altoona; Mrs. Dorothy Sprague, Fredonia; Mrs. Grace Haines, Phoenix, Ariz.; Jessie A. Martin, Livingston, Mont., William G. Martin, Neodesha.
Mr. Martin was a member of the Baptist church in Arkansas. He was a retired railroader, having retired on account of his health.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2:30 p.m., at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home with the Rev. W. W. Ffautz officiating.
Mrs. Bill Reed and Mrs. W. C. Gausman sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. W. W. Pfautz was the organist.
Interment was made in the Neodesha cemetery. Casket bearers were Carl Haviland, Elton Hancock, Leon Haviland and Bill Haviland.
Out of town relatives attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haviland, Altoona: Mrs. Bessie Poe, Seligman, MO.; Mrs. Earl Sprague, Fredonia; Mr. and Mrs. R. Leon Haviland and son, Randy, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Haviland and children, Bradley, Debra and Diane, Salina; Mr. and Mrs. James A. Jay and Bruce, Anamosa, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Wrenn Williams, Mrs. Glenn Pitts, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Bill Thornton, Thayer; Billy Hartless, Fredonia.

Former Resident Dies Tuesday in Kansas

John Christy Martin, 51, retired Northern Pacific railway employee and former resident of Livingston, died Thursday afternoon in a hospital at Neodesha, Kansas, after an extended illness.
Martin, brother of Mrs. Sid Roup and Jesse Martin of Livingston, was born Nov. 18, 1906, in Bentonville, Ark., where he spent his early life and received his education.
His family moved to Kansas when he was about 14. He lived there until coming to Livingston in 1928.
He accepted employment with the Northern Pacific on Sept. 9, 1929, and retired because of a disability in 1951. He moved to Neodesha in June, 1955, and had lived there since.
Survivors besides his brother and sister here include a brother Garland of Neodesha, formerly of Livingston; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Haverland of Neodesha; two sons, Edward John Martin of Livingston and Christy Martin of Paradise, Calif.; a daughter, Hazel Martin of Neodesha, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted from the La Fawcett funeral home at Neodesha.
