Nancy Ann Steen, the seventh child and
third daughter of William G. and Naomi R.
Steen, was born in Marion, Grant County, Ind.,
September 8, 1846, and brought by her parents
to Salem, Ore., in 1852, where she was brought up.

She was married in Salem, Ore.,
November 27, 1870, to Joseph Tate Halfpenny,
he having been born in Ottawa, Canada, about
1840, and died in McMinnville, Ore.,
February 10, 1876. No children by this marriage.

Nancy A. Steen Halfpenny was married a second
time in Dayton, Columbia County, Washington
Territory, April 25, 1880, to John Henry
Kennedy, M.D., he having been born in
Wapello County, Iowa, April 1, 1850, and
graduated in medicine in 1871.

To them were born three children at their
residence, Dayton, Wash. — Faith Goldie Kennedy,
the eldest daughter of J. H. and Nancy A.
Steen Kennedy, was born February 1881. —
Hope Ruby Kennedy, the second daughter of
Dr. J. H. and Nancy A. Steen Kennedy, was
born April 3, 1884. — Bliss Emerald Kennedy,
the third child and only son of Dr. J. H.
and Nancy A. Steen Kennedy, was born in
Spokane Falls, Washington Territory,
August 19, 1888.
