Memorial service for former Chetopa, Kansas resident Leona "Bo" Abshere, 87, Austin, Texas, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. Norma Quinn, Senior Pastor of Centenary United Methodist Church, Lawton, officiating.

Leona died Monday, May 30, 2011, in Austin, Texas.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

She was born January 27, 1924, in Alto, Texas, to Fred Monroe and Lela Elizabeth Edwards Grimes. She moved with her family to Tishomingo and later Anadarko, where she grew up and attended school. She married Marvin O. Abshere on November 17, 1940, in Anadarko. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1987. In 1953, they moved to Lawton, where they owned and operated Marvin's Burgers for 17 years. She worked in the family business when needed and also enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. In July 1994, she moved to Chetopa to be near her son, and in 2010, she relocated to Austin to be near her daughter. She was a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, canning, reading and music.

Survivors include her twin children: Fred Abshere and wife, Stella, rural Chetopa, Kan.; and Fredda Toole and husband, Robert, Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; Glen Abshere, Claremore, Oklahoma; Glenda Pacheco, Dallas, Texas; Melissa Kasmauski, Muskegon, Michigan; James Toole, Austin, Texas; Michael Toole, Dallas, Texas; Jennifer Patterson, Centerville, Ohio; Gayle Trotman, Abilene, Texas and Tylor Abshere, Parsons, Kansas; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Fred Grimes, Lewisville, Texas; and James Grimes, Casper, Wyoming.; and two sisters: Hester Williams, Houston, Texas and Etta Faye Oden, Cooper, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Emma Shellenberger; and one great-granddaughter, Ashliegh Coral Pacheco.
