Mr. Cochran died May 28 at Archbold Hospital. Born Dec. 17, 1923, in Grady County, he was the son of Sim and Agnes Rhymes Cochran. On April 23, 1946, he was married to Effie Glenn who preceded him in death on April 4, 1966. He was a farmer and worked at Roddenberry's for 36 years. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Whigham and attended Bridge School in the St. Paul Church community and Ham Still School in the St. Peter Church community. He served as a member of the Cairo City Council District 1 from January 1987 to January 1996.
Survivors include sons, Edward (Barbara) Cochran of Atlanta, Howard B. Cochran of cairo; daughters, Carolyn Cochran of Cairo, Marilyn T. Baker of Atlanta, Angela (Ronnie) Gurley of Cairo; brothers, Charles (Orange) Cochran of Laurelton, Queens, N.Y., Lelon Cochran of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Lucille (Willie) Maxwell of Cairo, Verdell (William) Pipkins of Detroit, Mich.; brother-in-law, Isiah Mills of Detroit, Mich.; sister-in-law, Hazel Cochran of Atlanta; family friend, Sandra Brown Metcalf of Cherry Hill, N.J.; six grandchildren; and all the family members of the late Lilla Mae Smith.
