Emory Mather Blakesley was born August 23, 1920 in Burlington, Wyoming to Emory and Margaret (Mather) Blakesley. The family moved to Eagle County, Colorado, by the 1930 US Census.

In February 1942, Blakesley enlisted in the United States Army. Service Number 18070499. SSGT Blakesley served with Company L, 184th Infantry, 7th Infantry Division. 

In October 1944, the 184th was deployed to the island of Leyte in the Philippines. On October 30, 1944 SSGT Blakesley was killed in action in the liberation of the Philippines. 

Emory Mather Blakesley was interred in Riverside Cemetery in Thermopolis, Wyoming.
