"MELLOTT - George Madison Oakley, 89, died at 11 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. Born May 5, 1915, at Charleston, IL, he attended school in Mellott. On Oct. 23, 1939, he married Mary Eva Bennett in Lafayette.

Mr. Oakley worked in the Civilian Construction Corps during World War II. He had worked for 39 years for the Nickle Plate Railroad, retiring May 30, 1975.
