TOPPENISH - Moses Jerome Thompson, 69, of Granger died Wednesday June 1, 2011 at Toppenish Community Hospital.

Moses was born April 9, 1942 in Lapwai, Idaho to Henry and Agnes (Kywayputs) Thompson. He was a direct descendent of Chief Tommy Thompson of Celilo, OR and son of Chief Henry Thompson. Moses was raised at Celilo Village and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1976. Moses attended a trade school in Tacoma, WA, where he learned iron working and welding. He did iron work at Hood River, OR, Portland, the Dalles Aluminum Plant in Goldendale, WA and Wapato Irrigation Project for the past 24 years.

Moses is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Thompson of Granger, WA; son, Michael Thompson of Granger, WA; daughters, Joyce Thompson (Leonard Lawrence) of Granger, WA, Diana Thompson-Marconi (Douglas ) of Toppenish, WA and Raven Thompson of Granger, WA; sister, Christine Ganuelas (Victor) of Wapato; the light of his life, Josephine Ann Thompson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Tommy, Henry, Agnes, Kenneth, George "Curtis", Davis, Dorothy Simtustus, his daughter, Patricia Thompson, and great grandson, Little Alvey.

Dressing Services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday June 3, 2011 at the Toppenish Longhouse. The procession will leave the Longhouse at 7:00 a.m. Saturday June 4th, for burial in the Reservation Community Memorial Park, Wapato, WA. Merritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.merrittsfuneralhome.com.
