Funeral Set Tuesday for J. T. McMillin

Funeral services for Jack Thomas McMillin, 59, state bank examiner and former banking commissioner of Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamar & Smith Funeral Chapel, 800 West Jefferson. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

McMillin died Sunday night after a heart attack at the home of a friend. He lived at 418 South Oak Cliff Boulevard.

McMillin was born in Kentucky and was brought to Texas by his family when he was a year old. The family settled in Whitewright, Grayson County, where he was reared. He attended Grayson College and entered the banking business at the Planter’s National Bank at Whitewright.

At the time of his death, McMillin had the longest service of any state bank examiner. He had served almost twenty years as an examiner.

He was also a former vice-president of the Oak Cliff State Bank & Trust Company.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Holyfield and Miss Jacquelyn McMillin, all of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Irene Arterberry of Dallas; two brothers, J. M. McMillin of Dallas and Clarence McMillin of Whitewright; and two grandchildren.

Jack married Madge Elizabeth Stinson (daughter of James Frank Stinson and Lizzie B Stinson) about 1910. Madge was born 06/21/1893 in Texas and died 09/08/1989 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Unknown where she is buried at this time.
