David A. Gilsdorf, 70, of W365 Highway 149, Kiel died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 21, 1930 in Hilbert, a son of the late Othmar and Mathilda Gehl Gilsdorf. He attended school in Sherwood, Wis. On June 17, 1953, he married Bernetta Rieth, at St. Anna Catholic Church, St. Anna. The couple farmed seven years in the Sherwood area, before moving to Kiel. David was employed at Ameriquip, formerly Arps Corp. of New Holstein, for over 30 years, retiring in 1935. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul ‘Catholic Church, Kiel; Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society and the Chilton Eagles Club.
Survivors include his wife, Bernetta; his children, Karen and Warren Vandoske of Howards Grove, Eugene and Mary Gilsdorf of Kiel, Conrad and Judy Gilsdorf of Kiel, Kenneth and Paula Gilsdorf of Kiel, Christine and John Kubichka of Chilton, Steven and Donna Gilsdorf of Kiel, Michael and Lydia Gilsdorf of El Paso, Texas, Debra Gilsdorf of Manitowoc, Mary and Brian Andreas of Madison, Michelle and James Fleischman of New Holstein, Barry Gilsdorf and special friend, Nissa Wydner of Kiel, and Julie and Jamie Feucht of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by 24 grandchildren; three brothers, Fr. Gordon Gilsdorf of Little Suamico, Fr. Daniel Gilsdorf of Appleton and Rich and Lucy Gilsdorf of Sheboygan; one sister, Sr. Marita Gilsdorf of Hilbert; numerous nieces, and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Jean Gilsdorf, one son-in-law, Terry Schweitzer and one nephew, Tom Gilsdorf.
A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held Sunday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Loren Nys, SDS and the Rev. Gordon Gilsdorf and the Rev. Daniel Gilsdorf, brothers of David, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
