Born June 14, 1927, to Fredrick and Mary Robison Kelley, she married Bertwin E. Behrends on July 22, 1951, in East Peoria. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2009, in Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her identical twin sister, Barbara Lee Worms; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; and other family members.
As a child, Betty and her twin sister, Barbara, competed in numerous twin conventions, playing the saxophone and twirling batons.
A graduate of East Peoria Community High School, Betty attended art classes at Bradley and worked briefly at Caterpillar as well as her father's grocery store, before marrying and becoming a homemaker and mother.
Betty established and led the Shady Knolls Sugar Bowls 4-H Club.
For 69 years she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir and bell choir.
She was a member of the local China Painting Guild and enjoyed watercolor and oil painting.
As an adult, Betty learned to play piano and swim when her children started taking lessons. She also served as a judge in the Home Economics Barn during the Heart of Illinois Fair in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to her church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice.
