Mrs. E. Barnaby, 98, Pioneer City Resident, Dies
Mrs. Edward Barnaby, 98, one of Ironwood's oldest residents, died this morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kennedy, 229 E. Vaughn St., with whom she had made her home.
The former Annie Hephner was born in Chilton, Wis., on Feb. 12, 1861. She was married to Mr. Barnaby in Norway, Mich., on May 10, 1883.
The couple moved to Ironwood in 1885 and had resided here since.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1933. Mr. Barnaby died Oct. 23, 1946.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Kennedy of Ironwood, Mrs. Vincent Carey and Mrs. Albert St. Claire of Chicago, Mrs. Albert Wanzer of Duluth; three sons, Raphael of Milwaukee, Frank of Ironwood and Russell of Lockport,
Ill.; 23 grandhicldren, 37 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildlren. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Nellie McGrath of Iron Mountain.
Mrs. Barnaby was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
The McKevitt-Kershner Funeral Home will be open to friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday and the rosary will be recited at 8 that evening at the funeral home.
The funeral mass will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
