Henry J. Patyk, 86, of Lostant died at 10:07 p.m. June 11, 2007, in St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Ptak Funeral Home, Peru, with 10 a.m. Mass in St. Valentine Church. The Rev. William Gardner will officiate. Burial will be at St. Valentine Cemetery. La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group will perform military rites.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Oglesby American Legion will gather at 6 p.m. for services Thursday.
Mr. Patyk was born June 17, 1920, in Peru to John and Nellie (Stachowiak) Patyk. He married Bernice Loebach on April 24, 1948, in St. Joseph's Church, La Salle.
He graduated from St. Valentine Grade School and attended La Salle-Peru Township High School. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer in the Tonica-Lostant area and farmed University of Illinois endowment farms in the Lostant area for more than 41 years. He was a member of St. Valentine Church and Oglesby American Legion 237.
Survivors are his wife, Bernice of Lostant; four daughters, Mary Beth (William) Koenen of St. Germain, Wis., Kristie (Larry) Laio of Utica, Karen (Randall) Bacidore of Berwyn and Jannell (Francis) Bichl of Elmhurst; two sons, John (Debra) Patyk of Peru and Terry (Laura) Patyk of Lostant; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia (Bud) Kratz of Peru.
