HUBERT CHARLES GESSFORD

Hubert was born August 15, 1921, in Arthur County, Nebraska. He grew up there on the family homestead. Hubert served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WWII, and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. After the War Hubert attended and graduated from Colorado A&M. In 1955 Hubert moved with his wife and children to Montclair, CA, where he lived and worked as a Carpenter for 55 years. He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church since 1963. Hubert volunteered tirelessly for Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years. Hubert's faith in the Lord sustained him through hardships and pain. His purpose in life was to serve the Lord by helping others. He had a wry sense of humor and often a joke to tell. Hubert was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen. He is survived by his children, Paul Gessford, Charles and Virginia Gessford, Ann and Steven Glenn; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor Gordon of Ontario, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed and for ever held dear in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, Sat. June 4, 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Published in Inland Valley Daily Bulletin from June 2 to June 3, 2011.
