"Robert Fee, a prominent stockman of Fort Bidwell, died March 16th. He was one of the first settlers of Surprise Valley." [Lassen Advocate, 20 Mar 1908]

Robert arrived in NYC from Liverpool, England, 22 Oct 1853, age 13 yrs aboard "The City of New York" with parents John and Eliza Fee, brother James age 15, sister Eliza Jane age 5, and infant baby brother. By 1856, the family was settled in Cedar, Jefferson Co., IA, where Robert grew to manhood. After his marriage to Frances M. Pleasants in 1872, he moved to Modoc Co., CA, and engaged in stockraising on the Fee Ranch with his brother James until his death. Robert died after a long battle with consumption. [JMF]
