Russell O Robbins was born to Henry and Marian Robbins in Hanford, California in 1950. He lived there until 1956 when the family moved to Long Beach, CA. Two years later they moved to Rancho Cordova, CA. He was a high school cross county runner and graduated from Rancho Cordova High School in 1968. He then served four years as a Navy aircraft electronics technician. He received his B.A. degree from California State University, Sacramento in 1976 and married Linda Bjorklund the following year. They had two daughters, Brenda and Amy. He attended evening classes and graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 1980. He practiced law from his own office in Sacramento and then spent two years working as business contracts officer at the University of California, Davis. He took his young family and traveled to Europe and Singapore to continue his education in maritime law which he practiced for two years in Long Beach before returning to Sacramento and settling in Carmichael, CA. Rusty was very active in community affairs, was a Sunday School teacher and served on the executive board of his church. He was serving as co-president of the Mira Loma High School PTA when he died of cancer in 1996 at the age of 46.
