Co. K, First Regiment New England Volunteer Cavalry (also known as First Regiment Rhode Island Volunteer Cavalry). This regiment was composed of eight companies from Rhode Island and four from New Hampshire, the latter being
Companies K, L, and M.

Companies I, K, L, and M were mustered into the service of the United States December 17, October 24, December 27 and 24, 1861, respectively, by Seth Eastman, Lt. Col: 1 Inf., U.S.A. Companies I, L, and M were mustered in at Concord, and.Company K at Manchester.

The four New Hampshire companies were permanently detached from the First Regiment Rhode Island Volunteer Cavalry and became Companies I, K, L, and M, of the First Regiment New Hampshire Volunteer Cavalry, January 7, 1864. The records of the Field and Staff officers appointed by the Governor of New Hampshire are given.

Enlisted 10 Oct 1862, mustered in 10 Oct 1862 as Private. Discharged disabled 26 Jan 1863. On the list of disabled Rhode Island soldiers, hospital is Harewood. Type of injury not recorded.
