J. Don Dansie, 72, of Rexburg, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his home.

He was born December 21, 1938 in Rigby, to Jerry F. Dansie and Alta Fransen Dansie. He attended schools in Rigby, and graduated from Rigby High School; he continued his education at Ricks College. On November 30, 1962, he married Helen Techick in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a college instructor and taught Animal Science at Rick College for 25 years.
Don is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership positions; serving as a Rexburg Stake Patriarch at the time of his death. He enjoyed studying the scriptures, raising cows and horses, training stock dogs and roping. He also enjoyed his students and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Dansie, of Rexburg; daughters: Karen (Russ) Weaver, of Rexburg, Linda (Kirk) Jacobs, of Hamer, Susan (Shane) Sutton, of Rexburg, Lana (Evan) Wise, of Rexburg, and Sheri (Brian) Bybee, of Rexburg; sons: Scott (Carol) Dansie and Gary (Julie) Dansie, both of Victor; brothers: Lynn (Betty) Dansie, of Rigby, Bob (Kathy) Dansie, of Idaho Falls, and Layne (Nova) Dansie, of Idaho Falls; 37 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Burton LDS 3rd Ward, 3958 W. 2000 S., Burton, with Bishop Ken McCluskey conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
