Services will be held at 11 a.m., June 4, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Bossier in Faith Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Alan Pittman of The Life Journey Church and Chaplain Matt Impson of Jordan's Crossing. Following the service, Odie will be laid to rest at West Lake Cemetery in Doyline, LA. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Odie was a student at Elm Grove Middle School, whose staff and students went above and beyond to make sure Odie, even in his absence, always knew he belonged and was thought of everyday. The Bossier Sheriff's Office was instrumental in making Odie's dream of one day becoming a Marine, happen in January 2011 when he was made an Honorary U.S. Marine. Odie studied Tang Soo Do for three and one half years at Pak's Karate in Bossier City where he earned his Black belt in December, 2007.
Odie is preceded in death by his granddaddy and grandmother, Max and Carolyn Harris; uncle, Mike Harris; uncle, Lynn Hooper; Memaw and Papaw Hooper, Mamaw and Papa Gulledge and so many other beautiful souls…Heaven is full of them.
Taken way too young, Odie is survived by his mother and constant companion, Lauri Hooper Harris of Bossier City; devoted and always present father and step mom, Terry and Bridgette Harris of Elm Grove, LA; constantly caring grandparents, Hoyt and Jane Hooper of Doyline, LA; loving older siblings and best friends, Malorie Crosby, Gennifer and Billy Szura and Adam Harris, all of Bossier City; step brothers, Blake Stanley of Bossier City, Colton Stanley of Doyline, LA; his sweet little niece, Marissa (monkey) Stanley and countless other members of a whole big beautiful family.
Honoring Odie as pallbearers, will be Adam Harris, Malorie Crosby, Billy Szura, his loyal to the end best friend, Braden Frith, his dearest friend and soul mate, Bill Bradford and his friend for life, Kristen Hammett. Step brothers, Blake and Colton Stanley will serve as honorary pallbearers and be there to offer any needed support for the special group of Odie's closest friends.
