Hugo Wagner, age 19 of 150 North Porter died Indiana Methodist, hospital at 7:10 last night of injuries suffered five hours earlier when the car Indiana which he was riding stalled on the tracks and was struck by a fast Pennsylvania passenger train at the 15th Avenue crossing.
Wagner's companion, C. M. Garrison, a neighbor, was unhurt. Seeing the train, he hastily kicked open the door and jumped to a safe distance. It thought Wagner failed to see the train and was unable to heed Garrison's warning when the latter saw it.
The car was headed west on 15th avenue. Its mechanism was out of adjustment and had been giving trouble for some time, Garrison said. As they approached the crossing the carburetor sputtered and then the machinc came to a dead stop on the tracks.
Auto is Demolished
While Garrison was trying to start the motor he saw the train, headed for Chicago, approaching from his left. The train, the Manhattan Limited, is due at Gary at 2:08 p. m. but was sightly late, the accident occurring a 2:10 p. m.
The automobile was demolished completely. Wagner was rushed to Methodist hospital Indiana Marshall and Dewey ambulance. First reports were that he was not hurt seriously, but internal injuries proved fatal.

Wagner is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Gust Wagner of 150 North Porter; a sister Mrs. Ethel Ellis, and three aunts all of Gary.
