His first wife was Miss Bessie Reed, whom he married in New York, she was the mother of his son, James.
His seconds wife was Martha A. Brown, there were no children.
His third wife was Sarah Elizabeth Browning, the mother of his son, Thomas.

Frances Dieterich fought with Fannin's men that were defeated at Refugio in
1836. Francis Dieterich was released with 5 other men. Received a Donation Certificate of 640 acres for his service . He was a successful merchant in Austin.
A book "Merchants to the Republic" in 1858, was written by his granddaughter, Dora Dietrich Bonham, wife of Eugene P. Bonham.
