Miss Lorene Ackman, 41 years old, of St. Louis and formerly of Cape Girardeau and Neelys Landing, died at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at City Hospital in St. Louis of injuries sustained on Feb. 21. She was struck by an automobile. Miss Ackman was employed at the Famous-Barr store.
Miss Ackman, whose father, John Ackman operates the elevator at hotel Marquette and who resides at 502 Themis Street, had been unconscious most of the time since the accident in which she suffered a fractured skull.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the New Bethel Church with interment in the cemtery there.
Miss Ackman leaves her father of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Pearl Ackman of Festus, Nelson and Thomas Ackman of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Mrs. Woodrow Gilmore and Mrs. Fred Corse of Fruitland and Miss Mae Ackman of Jackson. Her mother, Mrs. Maude Ackman, died April 11, 1940.
Miss Ackman was born at Neelys Landing on Feb. 13, 1909. She graduated from College High School here in 1934 and from State College. She formerly operated a children's nursery at Spokine, Wash., and had been in St. Louis for the past three years. She was a member of New Bethel Church at Neelys Landing.
