He married Cecilia San Augustine Baza on April 25, 1959 in Agana, Guam. She survives. Also surviving are five children, Jose Blas Jr. of Champaign, Robert (Trisha) Blas of Snellville, Ga., Danny Blas of San Diego, California, Christina (Bill) Fox of Wilmette and Nina (Charles) Cook of Fremont, California and seven grandchildren.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star medal in 1972. He retired at Chanute Air Force Base in 1975, completing over 20 years of military service.
