Service for James E. Ackman will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home here, with Rev. Dave Conley, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Pocahontas.
Ackman, of Route 4, Jackson, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 1989, following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 25, 1914, at Neelys Landing, son of Thomas and Effie Foster Ackman.
He married the former Rosalie Cotner on April 30, 1938 at Jackson. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Mrs. Dillman (Rita) Reisenbichler of Pocahontas, and Mrs. Hassel Onderdonk, Route 4, Jackson, Ruth Richards of Jackson; brothers, Clifford Ackman, Carlsbad, N.M., and Herbert Ackman, Route 4, Jackson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Ackman was employed by the U.S. Corp of Engineers until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of the Jackson Elks Lodge.
