The body of Mrs. George Ackman was brought to the McCombs Funeral Home Wednesday, following her death in St. Louis on Tuesday night. Mrs. Ackman had made her home with her children in St. Louis for the past three years. She had been ill for six weeks and was at a St. Louis hospital when she passed away.
Mrs. Ackman was 71 years old. She was born Sept. 9, 1882, the former Miss Maggie Robison, a daughter of Michael and Mary Robison. She was married to George Ackman, who died three years ago.
She is survived by four sons, Walter Ackman of Cape Girardeau; Leslie Ackman, Troy Ackman and Roy Ackman of St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Courtland Crites of St. Louis, Mrs. Wilson Godwin of Kennett, and Mrs. Clarence Tripp of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Jordan of Thebes, Illinois and Mrs. Crites of Jackson; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New Bethel Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
