BEEVILLE, Nov. 11 - Allen Jones, 73, a prominent south Texas banker and land owner, died last night. Jones was president of the First National bank of Beeville, the Hebbronville National bank and the Alice National bank. His holdings made him one of the largest land owners in south Texas and was the son of the late W. W. Jones, Corpus Christi. Jones also held stock in the Corpus Christi State National bank, the National Bank of Commerce of Houston and the Alamo and Frost National banks of San Antonio. He was an organizer and president of the South Texas Hereford Assn., and was a director of the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Assn. Jones had large ranch holdings in Jim Hogg, Starr, Brooks and Bee counties. The A. C. Jones High school in Beeville was named after him. He was instrumental in bringing the first railroad line to Beeville.

Allen Carter Jones, age 73, of Beeville, Texas, died Sunday at a local hospital. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. A. C. Jones, Beeville, Texas; son, W. W. Jones, II, Corpus Christi; daughters, Mrs. Lincoln Borglum and Mrs. H. B. Hause, Beeville, Texas; Mrs. W. M. Thompson, Richmond, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Donald Alexander and Mrs. Frank M. Lewis, both of San Antonio and 12 grandchildren. The body was taken to Beeville, Texas for service Tuesday at 2:30 at the First Methodist church. Interment in Beeville Memorial park. Arrangements by Porter Loring.
