American Folk Figure. Ensign, United States Naval Reserve. He passed up a discharge so that he could stay in the Navy. He had 373.4 hours of flight time, 65.9 on Avengers alone. He was on board the FT-3 plane that was part of the infamous Flight 19 squadron that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle during a training mission out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
