She married her high school sweetheart Thomas E Alston 27 Dec 1952.
When her husband entered the Navy, the couple lived in different cities all over the United States. In 1975, after the death of her son and her husband's retirement, the couple moved to Florence where they owned and operated Rocky Mountain Grocery. In the mid 1990's, they opened Huerfano Book Store, which she ran until she became ill in 2007. Mrs. Alston was involved with the Florence VFW, the Red Hat Society, and numerous charities.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tom Alston; daughters Cindy(John)Prater,Sandra Lesher;son,Scott(Sheila),Alston, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Marc Kevin Alston; brothers Sam and David Goins; sister, Doris Reiter;brother-in-law, Frank Reiter and stepmother, Mona Dickson.
