Services Set for Russell McGray, Local Contractor

Funeral services for Russell Everett McGray, 48, who died Tuesday at the New London Hospital, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Church of the Good Shepard. The Rev. James W. Wright will officiate and burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mr. McGray, a resident of Newport for the past ten years, was owner and operator of the Russell E. McGray building and construction firm. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Shugah River Sportsmen's Club.

He was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, on April 22, 1909, the son of Judson McGray and Loretta Killam.

Members of his family include his wife Mrs. Dorothy M. (Cummings) McGray; and three sons, Leland R., Robert A., and John J., all of Newport; his father Judson McGray of Yarmouth; a stepmother, Mrs. Lottie McGray of Yarmouth; one brother, Lawson McGray of Yarmouth; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Shaw of Yarmouth, and Mrs. Nina Halka of Brockville, Ont., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The Newton - Bartlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and friends may call at the home today from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Bearers will be Paul Remick, Austin Corbett, Ray Witham, Everett Thurber, John Chartier and John Salo. Honorary bearers will be Albert Gauthier, William Hoy, Malcolm Rowell, Carson Field, Merton Fletcher and Herbert Fletcher.

Members of Sugar River Lodge 55, IOOF, will conduct memorial services at the funeral home this evening at 7.
