Esther Leona Thomas, 72, of Elkhart and formerly of Olney died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1993, in Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Summer-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Dr. Bruce Owens presiding. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery in rural West Salem. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.
Memorials can be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Mrs. Thomas was born March 13, 1921, the daughter of Noah and Mabel (VanMatre) Thomas. She married Edwin Hedrick Carson and he died. She then married William M. Thomas and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin H. Carson, Jr., of Sherman; Melvin L. Carson, of Peotone; a daughter, Nancy Carol Carson, of Lincoln; two step-sons, Gary Thomas and Bill Thomas both of Galesburg; three brothers, Melvin
Thomas of Olney, Dale Thomas of Ingraham and Cecil Thomas of Noble; two sisters, Minnie Pride and Raedell Schwarzlose both of Olney; an aunt, Beatrice Padgett of Olney; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a son Noah, an infant brother and a brother Cyril.
